GOP Legislators Announce Infrastructure Plan

Jul 26, 2018

Senate Majority Leader Rich Wardner and House Majority Leader Al Carlson announced plans today for a $280 million infrastructure funding package that would continue funding to oil-impacted communities, but would also deliver funds to non-oil producing counties to address infrastructure needs.

The plan would create three new buckets in the gross production tax distribution formula:

 -- $115 million County/Township Infrastructure Fund

-- $115 million Municipal Infrastructure Fund

-- $50 Million Airport Infrastructure Fund

Details of the funding package, which will be introduced in the 2019 Legislature, are still being worked out.

Wardner and Carlson said they are also talking about the possibility of using Legacy Fund earnings to expand the current infrastructure loan program.
